5K – Check!

5K run – mission accomplished! With lots of hard work on my part leading up to it! There was a little panic on my part pre-run time because the team I was signed up with didn’t tell me that they were A) picking up all of the run registration stuff and B) where to meet them before hand.

I didn’t find them until 5 minutes before the run was due to start and was starting to think I wouldn’t be allowed to run at all. Shockingly I was really upset/disappointed at that prospect of not running and didn’t feel relief at all – just panic.

I had three goals for the run:

1. Get myself there.

2. Finish the full 5K. No matter what. Ideally under 40 minutes.

3.See if I could do the whole 5K without stopping to walk.

All three goals accomplished! I’m definitely proud of myself for getting this done and not stopping to walk. I’m also super psyched that I didn’t have that cursed stitch in my right side once! Not once for the whole run! It felt like a small victory.

I am so thankful for all of the support I had from family and friends for the run. It was actually a little overwhelming (in a good way!) And that includes the support from right here in blog land. Thanks for the shout out Tara!

My run time was 36:43ish. Slow. But I feel like it was a milestone day. Right now I think I will keep running. Maybe not forever, but definitely for now. I found myself wondering at the 4.5K mark if I would/could want to keep running it all over again for a 10K and it didn’t feel impossible. That’s progress!

Maybe I have officially lost my mind?

Almost at 3K - waving to some friends who came to cheer me on.

Here's me almost at the finish line. I'm the one in the black.

Celebration Face! Yeah!
