Bootcamp Insanity

So this morning’s bootcamp holiday-Monday workout had me feeling like I wanted to puke for the first time in a long time. Apparently this is a good thing.

We started with our 1K run.

Back for some stretching – lunge walk, butt-kick grab walk, 10 mountain climbers, 10 sit ups, 3 torso rotations and repeat.

This was followed by the following circuit: В (initially I wrote “crazy circuit” but then thought maybe it isn’t crazy if it works).

1. burpees into long jumps (x10)

2. deadlifts @ 90lbs (x10)

3. slam ball with the 8lb medicine ball (x20)

4. spiderman plank x20

5. run the block around the gym (half downhill/half uphill)

6. 10 assisted chin ups

REPEAT x 4 В (Yes, that’s right – FOUR freakin’ times through it.)

I had to seriously talk myself through the running. That and the burpee long jumps were the the toughest for me to talk myself through. By the third time through the circuit my burpees were looking a little pathetic. I was walking my feet in for the long jump instead of jumping them. Completely ran out of energy (or pretty damn close).

Now that I’m home and showered and had some delicious breakfast I’m feeling a little proud of myself for pushing through it and getting it done.

I’m definitely thankful today is a Holiday and I have a day post-conferencing to relax a little plus get things organized before my four day work week. Lots to do!

What was your last workout you felt like you really had to PUSH yourself to get through it? What was the toughest part?

Bootcamp does sound like insanity. I kind of wish I could do it though… I love stuff like that.

My last workout where I had to push? Oh, God, I can’t remember. That tells me something.

Mary you could do bootcamp! I know you could. When I started I didn’t think I could do it either, and yet somehow now I’m strangely addicted. Sounds like you could use a new challenge!

Man, I’ve really got to try those burpee things. Crossfit swears by them and the people who do CrossFit are super fit, so I believe them haha.

I’m glad you are giving it your all at boot camp :) You will DEFINITELY see results. Stick with it!

The last workout, hm, I try to give it a good go every single time I work out. I might not work out for a long time, but I try to give it 100% effort.

Superman says the day that I puke is the day he will be the most proud.

    O_o

My last push through was on Thursday when Superman wouldn’t let me give up on the weights. Damn him. I love him. :)

Tara – I think puking should never be the goal. Pushing yourself hard should always be the goal. One of the many reasons having a trainer is amazing! But as my trainer tells me, that nauseous, almost puking feeling is your body’s way of telling you its about to quit…which means you’ve pushed extra-hard!

Congrats and I’m proud of you too! That sounds like a tough workout!

As far as mine go, there have been a few that were really tough when I was still training with Dean. Mostly because he had me doing the exercises I HATED…
